Esther Leta Taft Stone 1939 ~ 2005

Esther Leta Taft Stone passed away on July 3, 2005 at her Bonners Ferry area home. A memorial service was held at Grandview Cemetery July 15.
She was born on November 25, 1939, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Gladys [Goldie] and Orin Taft.
She moved to Boundary County in 1954 with her brother Max and his family. She graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1957 and married John L. Stone on May 25, 1957. They had two sons and one daughter.
They moved to Paradise Valley in 1968.
Esther enjoyed hiking, fishing and camping. She loved to grow flowers, especially roses. She always had a large vegetable garden and gave many vegetables away to her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She worked at the Bargain Giant and the Hobby Shop for a number of years. She was manager at the Hobby Shop for part of that time. She also worked at Lindsay Helmer Hardware and Falcon Floral.
More recently she worked at the Kootenai River Inn. She worked on the election board for 18 years.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and her husband.
She is survived by: Dirk and Kathy Stone, Jeanne Kelly and Bob Breazille, Pat and Lynn Stone, Shawn Leach, John Alan Kelly, Mckinsey Kelly, Trevor Kelly, Jared Stone, Collin Stone, Kendall Stone, Evan Stone, numerous nieces and nephews and one great granddaughter, Hannah Mae Leach.
They wish to express their heart felt thanks to the Bonner Community Hospice staff and to the staff of the Boundary Community Hospital for all of their help. She will be missed by all of her family and friends.
