BONNERS FERRY, Idaho -- Benjamin R. Shelton, 18, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, died March 20, 2001 in a boating accident at Hayden, Idaho. He was born Nov. 18, 1982, in Quincy, Ill.

Services were held at the Bonners Ferry Seventh-day Adventist Church, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27. Memorial services were held on Friday, March 30, at Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, Wash., where he was a senior. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry. Arrangements are by Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.

Ben is survived by his parents, Dennis and Pam (Priebe) Shelton; a brother, Joshua Shelton; two sisters -- Ashley and Victoria Shelton; grandparents, Richard and Barbara Priebe of St. Joseph; great-grandmother, Lee Allwardt of New Port Richey, Fla.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Olen and Mildred Shelton of West Frankfort, Ill.

Ben was to have graduated with honors from Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, Wash. Ben will be remembered for his love of God, parents, family, and friends. He loved the outdoors, horses, four-wheeling, basketball, baseball, and snowboarding, with added interests in music, and playing guitar. He was also an active member of the Upper Columbia Academy Gymnastics Team. Ben will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
