          James David Risley, 79, of Coeur d’Alene died Oct. 26, 2007, at his home. James was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Bonners Ferry to Elmer Risley and Ida Meeks. A service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at McArthur Cemetery in Naples.

          Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007, at the McArthur Cemetery in Naples, ID.  A gathering for family and friends will follow the service at 1:00 p.m. at the family home, 604 N. Sunrise Terrace, Coeur d'Alene, ID. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

James 'Jim' David Risley
(Age 79)


    Was born January 27, 1928 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and passed away October 26, 2007 at his home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

     His parents were Elmer and Ida Risley. He attended a one-room elementary school in the Round Prairie area north of Bonners Ferry until his parents moved to Naples, Idaho where he completed his elementary school education. He then attended the Bonners Ferry High School until he graduated in 1947.

    When he was 17 years old he began working as a forest fire lookout man and continued to work as a Fireman for the Forest Service during the summers. He attended Farragut State College which operated briefly in facilities left behind by the Navy. He then attended the University of Idaho until he entered the Army and was stationed in Occupied Germany until he was released honorably in 1952. He resumed work for the U.S. Forest Service until he left to operate a small logging company in the Bonners Ferry area for several years, and after which he was once again employed by the U.S. Forest Service in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho until his retirement in 1983. He then traveled extensively in the Western United States, Canada and Alaska as well as Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand.

    He was an avid fisherman and spent the summer months fishing for many years at a retreat in Montana.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Kilgore, and a sister, Bernice Foltz. He is survived by his lont-time companion John Vandenberg of Coeur d'Alene, ID; a brother Earl Risley of Pendleton, OR; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services November 1st, 10:00 AM at the McArthur Cemetery, Naples, ID followed by a gathering of family and friends at the home, 6045 N. Sunrise Terrace, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho at 1:00 PM.
