Betty Gross, age 77, passed away June 26 at Boundary Community Hospital.
She was born in Lewiston, Idaho, and grew up in Potlatch, Idaho, where she graduated
from high school.
She was a waitress at Esther’s Café when she moved to Bonners Ferry in 1950.
She met and married Duane Gross in 1952. They led an active life doing many things
together and with their friends, including boating, camping, water skiing, snowmobiling,
trap shooting, having open houses with gourmet food prepared by them, and watching
football and having a football gathering once a week during the season, for many years.
Most people will remember Betty from her 37 years working at the clerk’s office in the
Boundary County Courthouse.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Ron Butler; a brother, Jim Richardson of Fargo,
N.D.; a sister, Merryrose Wurtz of Park Ridge, Ill.; extended family, Susan Wilson and
Sharon Wilson; and many much loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Gross; and her parents, Van and
Gladys Richardson.
