Grade Schools in Boundary County

There have been a total of 32 grade school buildings in the county since we started building. Pictures of many of them are available at the Free Museum, owned by the county, and operated by the Boundary County Historical Society.

The Boundary County Public Library contains the following paintings done by S. S. Allured:

  • Addie school - the shell remains, on private property
  • Katka school - no longer in existence
  • Northside school - presently used as a home, excellent restoration
  • Porthill school - no longer in existence
  • Sheridan school - this school burned down about 20 years ago, but is still used (by the old-timers) as a reference point when giving directions

The following watercolors were done by Estelle Thomas in 1982-3, and are also on display at the Boundary Co. Public Library:

  • Copeland school - no longer in existence
  • Curley Creek school - no longer in existence
  • Highland Flats school - used as a public meeting place, 4-H, clubs
  • Katka school - no longer in existence
  • McKinnley school - now known as Busy Bee Grange Hall
  • McRae school - no longer in existence
  • Montgomery school - no longer in existence
  • Moravia school - used as a residence, not restored as a school
  • Paradise Valley school - used as a residence, not restored
  • Rath school - no longer in existence
